First-year fellows spend three months, 70% time, in this rotation. Didactics include approximately 30 hours in the consultation/liaison seminar.
Fellows customarily see patients from infancy to age 18. These children and adolescents are being treated as inpatients for medical or surgical problems, or are being treated longer-term at Carrie Tingley rehabilitation hospital. Fellows conduct psychiatric evaluations of these children, typically including interviews with the family and the treating pediatric team. Child psychiatry fellows work closely with pediatric, nursing and Child Life staff to coordinate the best care for child patients. In addition, fellows may conduct:
