Elective Rotation

4 hours per week for 6 months

Location: UNM HSC

Faculty includes: TBD by fellow and Fellowship Committee

Psychosomatic Medicine fellows have the opportunity to design and partake in elective rotations to supplement their clinical experience and learning in addition to the core rotations.  The format, structure, goals, didactic component, and supervisors for the elective will be determined in advance between the fellow and the Fellowship Committee, including the Fellowship Director and the Site Director where the rotation will be occurring.  Fellows are encouraged to think proactively and creatively in designing elective opportunities, in order to take advantage of the diverse resources and settings available to them at UNM HSC.  If elective rotation time is to be taken in lieu of time spent on another rotation, such as the inpatient consultation service, this must have explicit prior approval from the Fellowship Director and the service chief.

Ideas for elective rotations include, but are not limited to:

  • Research Project Design and Implementation
  • Brain Stimulation (ECT, MST, TMS, tDCS)
  • Neuroscience Education
  • Bioethics Seminar
  • Palliative Care Clinic
  • Rural/Community Clinic
  • Indian Health Service (IHS) Telemedicine
  • Bariatric Surgery Clinic
  • Neuropsychology
  • Burn and Trauma Rounds
