Outpatient Specialty Clinic (UNMH)

4 hours per week for 6 months

Location: UNM Hospital

Faculty includes: Davin Quinn, M.D., Kimothi Cain, M.D., M.P.H., Brant Hager, M.D., Helene Silverblatt, M.D., Richard Hinton, Ph.D., Emiliano Valles, M.D.

UNM psychiatrists provide outpatient consultative services to other medical specialties within the UNM HSC.

Fellows act as embedded consultants to see patients referred for psychiatric evaluation in specialty clinics including:

  • HIV
  • Pain
  • Transplantation
  • Neurology/Movement Disorders
  • Family Practice
  • OB-GYN
  • Developmental Disability

Fellows perform diagnostic interviews and examinations, conduct follow-up visits, communicate with patients’ specialty care providers, and staff their cases with an attending psychiatrist. They may also receive supervision from the specialty clinic providers, and are an integral part of the outpatient team.

Main goal: To develop expertise in psychiatric syndromes and disorders that arise in patients seen within these medical specialty clinics.
