Each of our We Need to Talk public lecture series speakers meets with faculty and residents in a variety of instructional settings to further their understanding of that expert's specialty. These may include modeling patient interviews, offering feedback on a case or conducting specific training in a technique or skill. In addition, IDEAS in Psychiatry is working to create enduring relationships with all of the speakers in order to foster continuing educational and mentoring opportunities for faculty and residents in specialties that might not yet be available within the current Department of Psychiatry.
We know that professional education never stops. In certain cases, the institute encourages and financially supports current Department of Psychiatry faculty to attend specific conferences to increase their understanding of a particular illness or method of treatment. We then invite the participants to share their newfound knowledge with their colleagues here in New Mexico.
