Scott Carroll, M.D. appointed Chair of Committee

Dr. Scott Carroll, Assistant Professor in the UNM Department of Psychiatry, has been appointed Chair of the Medical Student Committee for Student Promotions and Evaluation (CPSE) for the UNM School of Medicine. Dr. Carroll had been elected, as a delegate for the Clerkship Directors, to serve on the committee before being selected for this additional honor. 

According to the UNM Medical Student Handbook, the CPSE is responsible for tracking students’ progress throughout medical school, from Phase I through Phase III. Among its responsibilities, this committee

• works with students who experience academic difficulty
• recommends students for awarding of the Doctor of Medicine degree
• handles most leaves of absence, away rotations, and deviations from the curriculum

The committee is composed of faculty, administrators and students. Membership is by election and appointment of the Dean.
