Alzheimer’s Disease Relapse Risk Is Subject of Grand Rounds

The Department of Psychiatry presents “Relapse Risk After Discontinuation of Risperidone in Alzheimer’s Disease,” with Corbett Schimming, M.D. , Assistant Professor; Attending Geriatric Psychiatrist at the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque. Dr. Schimming co-authored an article with the same title that was published last month in the New England Journal of Medicine (2012 Oct. 18; 367(16:1497-507).

1. Understand the scope and impact of behavioral and psychotic symptoms of dementia
2. Review treatment options for these symptoms
3. Understand the implications of discontinuing antipsychotic medications in patients who respond to these treatments
