Palliative Care to Be Focus of Grand Rounds

The Department of Psychiatry presents “An Introduction to Palliative Care for the Psychiatrist,” with Devon Neale, M.D., Assistant Professor, Geriatric and Palliative Medicine, UNM Department of Internal Medicine.

Objectives:                                                                                                                             
At the end of this presentation the audience will be able to:
1. Review the basic tenets of palliative care and to differentiate it from hospice care;
2. Outline a process for leading a "goals of care" discussion with patients and their families;
3. Address specific issues in palliative care for patients with advanced dementia.

All psychiatrists, other physicians, fellows, psychiatric residents, medical students and
behavioral health providers are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
