Juan Bustillo, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosciences; Director, Schizophrenia Research Program at UNM, presents, “Beyond Dopamine: Glutamatergic and GABAergic Abnormalities in Schizophrenia.” Dr. Bustillo is also the Medical Director of the Spanish Speaking Clinic at UPC.

At the end of this presentation the audience will be able to:
1. Discuss the advantages and limitations of in-vivo neurochemical measurements with proton MR spectroscopy.
2. Discuss the evidence supporting the glutamate NMDA hypo function model in schizophrenia.
3. Discuss the evidence for GABA dysfunction and its relationship to adolescence marihuana abuse in schizophrenia.
All psychiatrists, other physicians, fellows, psychiatric residents, medical students and
behavioral health providers are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
